Digital writing, what is it? How does it affect me? Well it is something the majority of us do everyday without ever knowing just like breathing. Digital writing is a form of writing that will always involve technology, it does not necessarily have to be typed. It could be a form of software that can understand one’s voice to have it write down a sentence or a paragraph, or even to a basic audio recording and much more. Digital writing has now become accessible to many persons including kids, it has evolved in the way we have access to share our writings. As technology has grown with the connection of internet mostly, it has also grown with advantages and disadvantages. As stated in “Why Digital Writing Matters” (9), a survey was conducted for parents related to the practices of digital writing and the data obtained resulted in a conclusion, that if it was to benefit of formal setting it was acceptable by most. If there was a high risk of abuse or negatives such as instant messaging many parents chose, no (9).

The solution some people see to further improve digital writing is to further aid digital writing throughout all grades in school. An issue in which this presents itself is that can be expensive which is true, but there can be a from of rotation between classrooms and as the student gets older we tend to see a trend of technology increase in students possessions which they can ultimately bring their own. Although, some instructors/teachers do not like the idea of technology to be used in writing, the twenty first century has shifted the art of writing to digital writing. Paraphrasing in “Why teach digital writing?” (5) the teachers should adapt to teaching differently with what the rest of learners have adapted to further increase their skills in thinking.

In conclusion, the form of writing has been evolving non-stop since our human existence with writing in caves, in walls, in paper, and now in digital screens which can be shared to anyone in the world. Digital writing is just another era of writing that results in different consequences, good and bad. Technology will never stop so why settle?, many have used it to benefit themselves and as result we see today in social media with companies promoting themselves and trying to get a trend going. In “Top Six Digital Transformation Trends in Media and Entertainment” (Newman,1), it can be safely said that the online creators and companies of entertainment and media have benefitted the most with adapting to digital writing, as it is the new way to connect with consumers and sellers in show casing products and services. People will adapt and change with technology, and digital writing is a new skill that needs guidance one way or another it is needed for interaction in today’s world and tomorrows.
